Hydraulic Fixed Stacker: working principle & applications
A hydraulic fixed stacker is a permanently installed lifting platform. One or more hydraulic cylinders raise a steel platform along a guided mast or through a scissor linkage, carrying pallets, drums and machinery between floors, a dock and a mezzanine, or a pit and the shop floor.
Unlike a goods lift it has no enclosed car or hoistway doors, which keeps cost and installation time low. Travel is short, the footprint is small and the platform can be set flush with the floor so loads can be rolled or forked straight on.
Safety is built into the hydraulics and mechanics: a pipe-rupture valve prevents sudden descent, mechanical props or safety legs support the platform during maintenance, and guarding or safety edges protect the operator.
Loading docks, mezzanines, workshops, warehouses, pits and production lines.
What you get
Compact footprint
Low pit depth and small base make it easy to fit into existing layouts.
High load capacity
500 kg to 5,000 kg platforms with even load distribution for pallets and machines.
Smooth, controlled lifting
Proportional hydraulic control gives gentle starts and stops for delicate loads.
Rugged steel build
Welded platform and hardened pivots designed for daily industrial duty.
Operator protection
Safety edges, guards, rupture valve and mechanical support legs.
Low maintenance
Few wearing parts; serviceable pump unit and accessible grease points.

Values are typical and customisable. Final capacity, speed, dimensions and finishes are confirmed after the site survey and approval drawing.
Safety is never optional
- Emergency stop
Mushroom-head emergency stop cuts power to the drive from the control station.
- Rupture valve & safety props
A pipe-rupture valve prevents sudden descent, and mechanical safety legs lock the platform for maintenance.
- Limit switches
Upper and lower travel limits stop motion before the end of the stroke.
- Overload protection
Load-limiting device prevents lifting above rated capacity.
- Guarding & signage
Safety guards, rated-load plates and warning labels as per site requirement.
Questions we get asked
What is the difference between a stacker and a goods lift?
A fixed stacker is an open platform for short travel and has no enclosed car or hoistway doors. A goods lift is fully enclosed and suits longer travel and multiple stops.
Can it sit in a pit so it is flush with the floor?
Yes. A shallow pit lets the platform lower flush with the floor, so loads can be rolled or forked on without a ramp.
How is it powered?
An electric motor drives a hydraulic pump. Single-phase and three-phase options are available depending on the load.
